Falmouth Jewish Congregation: Mission Statement & History

MISSION STATEMENT

The Falmouth Jewish Congregation on Cape Cod is a vibrant, Reform congregation affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ). Our community represents a diverse, inclusive, participatory family where congregants from all backgrounds are welcomed with warmth and respect.

Our historic East End Meeting House (1797), given to the congregation by a local church, is an important symbol of the positive interfaith relations we enjoy in a predominantly non-Jewish community.

Our members represent varied traditions, practices, and beliefs. However, we are united in our dedication to providing a place that meets the needs of the Jewish community for worship, lifelong learning and charitable acts. Our experience is enriched by rabbinic and lay leadership as we pursue educational, social, spiritual, and religious programming to achieve a sense of kedusha--holiness--within our lives.

We fashion innovative interpretations of time-honored rituals to carry us into the future, looking to the riches of our tradition for inspiration.

We affirm these values:

TORAH: A commitment to Jewish learning in order to deepen our knowledge and observance of Judaism.

AVODAH: A devotion to Jewish worship, by creating varied opportunities for spiritual fulfillment.

GEMILUT CHASADIM: An active engagement in okug iueh, tikkun olam, the quest for greater justice, peace, acts of loving kindness, and social responsibility.

FJC Welcomes Inspirational Humorist David Roche on Wednesday, June 25

Wednesday, June 25, 7:30 P.M., East End Meeting House. Suggested donation: $5.00; Open to the public.

David's face distinguishes him from all other presenters and motivational speakers. What really makes David unique, however, is his remarkable spirit, warmth, wit and authenticity. David's performance at the FJC is open to the public. David has transformed the challenges and gifts of living with a facial disfigurement into a compelling message that uplifts and delights audiences around the world. The story of his heroic journey from shame to strength has inspired standing ovations from the Clinton White House to the Sydney Olympics Arts Festival, from most of the 50 states to Canada, England, New Zealand and Moscow. David presents keynote speeches and entertainment for corporate, association, disability and educational events of all kinds. David's book, The Church of 80% Sincerity, is now available!
