FJC’s new 55Kw, 166-panel solar array went online on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. It is expected that our solar panels will generate more electricity than we use in our day-to-day operations.
The system, installed by SunBug Solar, is leased by FJC. We buy electricity at below-market rates (saving $2-3K/year) and the owner of the system enjoys tax credits and guarantees maintenance. While not visible from the front entry and parking lot, the solar array covers the entire back roof of the building's main (office, chapel and library) and Beit Sefer wings, as well as the entire roof of Goode Chapel.
FJC is proud of this accomplishment, which reflects the deepest of Jewish values and commitments to care for our world.
