Book Discussion of The Secret Chord, led by Pamela Rothtein, Director of Lifelong Learning

Monday, June 12 at 2:00 p.m.

For Members only

Enjoy guided discussion, the company and conversation of FJC members, and refreshments as we delve into Brooks’s acclaimed fictional treatment of King David. There is still ample time to read the book or listen to the audio version, both of which are on the Righter Library cart. Those who have not read the book are also welcome to come take away impressions and perhaps come away motivated to read it.

The Secret Chord reinterprets the well-known episodes of King David’s life and even more remarkable and emotionally intense episodes that have been largely neglected. Brooks tells the story through the eyes of the courtier, Nathan, who both counseled and castigated David.

About FJC Reads:
Every year Pamela selects a reading selection presented to the entire congregation. Titles have ranged from novels to non-fiction, biography, and graphic novels. One or more guided discussions are offered during the year, and sometimes programming as well, such as with this year's title. Ms. Brooks will present an illustrated talk (for FJC members and affiliates only) on Thursday, June 15 at 10:00 a.m.
