Falmouth Jewish Congregation and the Worcester JCC invite the community to a free, virtual Jewish Book Council Author Talk by Mark Gerson on Thursday, April 7 at 2pm. This special Passover educational program features Mr. Gerson discussing his book The Telling: How Judaism's Essential Book Reveals the Meaning of Life. The Haggadah (Hebrew: the telling) is the Jewish written text and guide to the order of the Passover Seder, the ritual meal that commemorates the Israelites’ enslavement and Exodus from Egypt. By reading the Haggadah, a Jew fulfills the commandment to “tell your children” the story of the Exodus. In The Telling, Mark Gerson argues that, beyond its function at the Passover Seder, the Haggadah really is “The Greatest Hits of Jewish Thought,” a text full of knowledge, stories and thought-provoking questions.

We invite people from all or no faith backgrounds to join Gerson in exploring the Haggadah. Whether you lead or join, are new to or have years of experience at a Seder, this book and talk will provide insights into the most engaging, inspiring and important night of the Jewish year, an experience with teachings and lessons that will continue to brighten in the year to come. Gerson will help us to create a Seder experience that families will love, treasure and remember. Mark Gerson, an entrepreneur and philanthropist, is the co-founder of Gerson Lehrman Group, African Mission Healthcare, and United Hatzalah of Israel. A graduate of Williams College and Yale Law School, Mark is the author of books on intellectual history and education. His articles and essays on subjects ranging from Frank Sinatra to the biblical Jonah have been published in The New Republic, Commentary, The Wall Street Journal and USA Today. He writes a weekly Torah column for the Christian Broadcasting Network and hosts the popular podcast The Rabbi’s Husband, and recently launched Torah Academy, an online resource for channeling the Torah’s practical insight and wisdom to live a happier, more successful life. Mark is married to Rabbi Erica Gerson.
