Boomer Shabbat 2019

Friday, July 26 at 7:30 P.M. in FJC's East End Meeting House

All are welcome at this popular and joyful musical service

Park across the street at the Blanche & Joel. D. Seifer Community Center. There are a small number of accessible parking right at the Meeting House and more in the larger parking lot.

Once a year, FJC turns back the clock to the sixties and seventies music to inspire our worship. At Boomer Shabbat that music totally shapes our worship experience, as the entire congregation fills the space with songs that have a thematic link to each of the Shabbat evening prayers. Collectively, led by the "Boomer Band," we give ourselves over to the joy of music...to an exuberant way of praying. All are welcome at this very special and joyful Shabbat experience, enjoyed by both members and many visitors from all faiths and traditions.

Boomer Shabbat 2019 falls on July 26 at 7:30 PM in the East End Meeting House. Our “Boomer Band” this year consists of Pamela Rothstein (guitar and vocals), Ken Freedman (keyboard), Bart Weisman (drums), Ira Schaefer (bass) and Rabbi Elias Lieberman (guitar and vocals).  So mark your calendar and, if you wish, dig out your love beads, bell-bottoms and tie-dye shirts, and be sure to wear some flowers in your hair....if you still have hair! Prepare to give yourself over to the power of these timeless and poignant lyrics and to gain fresh insight and feeling toward both their lyrics and the traditional prayers they have replaced.

The celebration continues across the street at a post-service Oneg Shabbat (joyous Shabbat reception).
