Latkes and Learning: Reflecting on Jewish Identity this Hanukah

Thursday, December 19 at Noon / For FJC members only

RSVP by December 16 to help us plan

We provide latkes and drinks. Please bring a side or salad.

Because of its historical basis in the Maccabean revolt, Hanukah is an apt time to discuss Jewish identity and overt displays of Jewish pride. With the rise of antisemitism both in Europe and in the U.S., more Jews are questioning the practice of publicly wearing symbols of Jewish identity such as the Magen David (Star of David) and a Kippah/Yarmulke. We’ll read some recent news reports and articles and discuss them and this timely topic, fueled by latkes and drinks. You bring your own side or salad.
